How to Find Your Creative Style

Whether you are just starting out or are getting back into it after a long time, it can be really difficult to find a creative style- or in other words, something that separates your art/writing/etc from everyone else's. If you're one of these people, here are a few ways that can help you figure that out:

Experiment

Experimenting can be a huge factor in finding a unique style of creativity. Despite it's significance, it can be really hard to figure out where to start. One way you could is to just choose the platform you want to use (paper, computer, tablet, etc) and see how your creation process is at the moment. When your done, see what you like, what you don't like. By doing this, you may be able to find your preferred creative style.

What Makes You YOU?

Think about yourself; what shows/movies do you enjoy? What were you obsessed with growing up? What kind of people are in your everyday life? These are just a few questions you can ask yourself as you are trying to figure out your creative style, as you can find inspiration to create something unique. Obviously, don't directly steal from anyone or directly copy their works. Instead, use them as inspiration/guidance for figuring out what story you want to tell and how you are going to do it.

Don't Overthink or Get Discouraged

Finding your creative style won't happen overnight. It may take a while to find one that you like. Even if it appears that so many people have unique ways of being unique with their creations, you may unintentionally compare yourself to them and be jealous of how easy this concept comes to them. When this happens, try to remember that art is different for everyone! Some may have multiple creative styles, others may have the same one for years.

Even if you hesitate on a certain style, just try it out, and if you don't like it later, change it up! You're not stuck on one style for the rest of your life. So don't be afraid to try a new way of expressing yourself through creativity!
