4 Ways You Can Take Unique Photos

Whether you take pictures with your phone or with a DSLR camera, it can be challenging to have each one differentiate from each other. I definitely noticed that I struggle with this as I look through my phone's photo gallery of thousands of similar looking cat pictures as I write this sentence.

It's completely fine to have all your pictures look similar; perhaps that's just your style! But, if your interested in changing this up a little for your future photos, here are 4 ways I believe will help:

  1. Use Props

Look online for some creative techniques from other photographers. You may even be inspired to make your own, unique style! I've seen people use colored glass, toilet paper rolls, cotton swabs, and so much more. Social media sites like Tik Tok, Instagram, and Pinterest are great places to look for ideas for your next shoot. Or, just look around your house; the possibilities are endless!

2. Look at a Different Angle

When wanting to take a photo, don't just look straight ahead of you; look up, down, left, right... everywhere! You never know where inspiration may be hiding, so have your camera ready at all times. Even just tilting the camera slightly can easily get you a unique angle of your subject.

3. Don't be Afraid to Edit

You may wary from making any changes to your photo, or make you think that if its not perfect, there's nothing you can do. However, in all honestly, editing can make a huge impact on your picture. Programs like Photoshop or even just the editing feature on your phone can give your photo meaning.

4. Break the Rules!

If you've taken any class on photography or even just looked up advice online (even this blog post), it may be intimidating following every single thing to a tee. Don't hesitate to get outside your comfort zone and take pictures the way you want to!

So, what are you waiting for? Get creative and have fun with it!
